Scarlet Lime GDT and Giveaway!

When I was asked by Christy to be the guest designer for November, I was so excited. Back when I first met my friend Ali Mclaughlin, I didn't know what scrapbooking "kits" were. That's something that was a big change for me. Returning to scrapbooking after my husband was injured it Iraq, I felt like I had no idea what was going on. Ali helped with that. She said she worked for a company called Scarlet Lime that had amazing kits, and that I should check out her blog to see her work. Of course, Ali does amazing work. But I was intrigued about the kits too. So bright, so colorful, so happy. Everything changes, and I happen to think scrapbooking kits are a change for the better. They make everything so much easier. Anyway, being asked to design for Scarlet Lime this month brought everything full circle for me.

There are so many things about the November Scarlet Lime kit that I loved. I loved the colors. I especially loved the watercolor green/blue/purple and the muted green exclusive Scarlet Lime papers. I loved the Lily bee navy blue/orange Audrey paper. (I'm always on the hunt for beautiful navy papers. My last ones were from Basic grey's boxer line, so excited to have a new stand-by). I loved the glitter embellishment stickers, the maya road pin, the prima flower centers, the buttons that match that watercolor paper exactly (I mean exactly, amazing!). I even fell in love with the yellow prima alphas after working with them. I think working with a kit requires some amount of trust, that the kit designer has your back. And I loved taking the risk and having it turn out so much better then the conservative choices I would have made had I been picking out of my stash. That's the magic of a kit. I especially loved the rub-ons, but late one night I put the backing on them wrong. I really could have cried. I spent the next day trying to figure out how to fix my mistake, but there isn't an easy fix for something like that. So, um, don't do that. :)

Here are my layouts with the kit:

On the second layout, that is exactly how J counts. It's so funny. And on the last layout, the text is a clear plastic bag J received candy in. I just cut it apart and adhered it flat. I hope I've piqued your interest. Leave me a comment telling me your favorite thing about fall or about scrapbooking kits and I'll draw a winner Wednesday at noon EST. The winner gets the same kit I got to work with, the November Scarlet Lime kit in all it's glory! And when you use those rub-ons, think of me fondly. :) Happy Monday (or probably Tuesday)! Until tomorrow.

PS I am indeed a homeowner, got the key to prove it! :) :) :)

Congrats to you on being a guest designer for Scarlet Lime! And how awesome of you to give away a kit too! I love the colors that you've described in the kit... I'm also fond of good navy patterns and they seem to be few and far between.

I love Fall, it's my favorite season... the smells, and the colors of the season can't be topped. I also love scrapbook club kits, but I don't subscribe to any at the moment. I've made up my own kits before though and have swapped with other scrappers... that's fun to do too!

After becoming a CocoaDaisy subscriber in August, I am hooked on kits! I have 9 kids and our 10th is on the way..so getting out to shop much is a little challenging . Getting a kit each month with all the products included is like Christmas every month for me! I can't wait to try out other companies as well, thanks for the heads up about Scarlet Lime!

I am ashamed to say I have never ordered a kit :^O
I just have so much stuff, I could never justify it, but I do enter SL giveaways all the time, just have had no luck.
You made such perfect pages with the kit!

I love the changing colors of fall...the crispness in the air...and the low dip in temperature that reminds me Thanksgiving and Christmas are around the corner! I love scrapbooking kits because they give me a chance to work with colors and patterns I wouldn't have thought to combine. Thanks for the chance to win!

I LOVE those layouts! YOur style is so clean and so modern - I love it!

I love kits because they do all of the work for me. I don't have to go to a store or sit on the computer finding things that go together or compliment one another nicely. I love seeing all of the cool embellies people find that I probably wouldn't choose for myself in the first place. Thanks for the chance! :)

My favorite thing about fall is sweaters and slippers. I love to come home and slip them on and turn on the oven and bake something that makes the house smell yummy!

But on a side note...how did you get that double row of black dots at the edges of your page? Stitching w/o thread? With a double needle?

Congratulations home owner! I am thrilled for you.

That is one beautiful kit and the layouts you made are gorgeous. I would mention drooling, but sometimes things like that should be kept quiet for fear of embarrassing oneself. Yeah right. I drooled. ;o)

Fall is my favorite season. Well, after I go through my mourning period of missing 90 degree days. Best part of fall is that there is always so much to do and not enough time to fit it in. Love the apple orchard, pumpkin patch, wearing clothes that hide the imperfections, like a spare tire and it's twin - spare tire 2. Love Halloween. Can we just say I love it all? :o)
