Been far away for far too long

I love you
I've loved you along
I miss you
You've been far away for far too long. -Nickelback
My dh is home from deployment just in time for the closing on our house. I missed him so much, happiness is his big bear hugs. Unfortunately he brought an unwelcome stomach bug with him, but after some antibiotics he is better now. We are enjoying our time together, despite how busy this week is. We have to go get a pumpkin today, if the weather holds out.
My confession: I've done this whole buying a house thing myself. Well, physically anyway. I saw the house, wrote the contracts, did the loan, etc. But I always had him there to discuss everything with, so it's all good. He actually found the listing for the house on the Internet and I forwarded it to my real estate agent (that's how we found the house), but his first time seeing it in person was the walk-through on Monday. He loved it, esp the garage. Men. :)
I hate to give you just a little more sneakiness, but I promise all will be revealed soon. If you are a bit of a detective, then you might be able to figure out which November kit club these sneaks belong to, and then you will be one step closer to being here for the giveaway Nov. 1. That makes up for it right?

I also have Cocoa Daisy layouts waiting to be revealed. And if you are still looking for more of my recent work, please see the American crafts blog for my latest Halloween project (was posted 10/28). Going to closing tomorrow, trying to get money wired at the 11th hour. Hugs friends! Happy Thursday, until tomorrow!

Driving-by

I've gotten so much done on my to-do list, I think that J and I will spend the afternoon outside today after we eat lunch. Otherwise, nothing much to report here. Getting ready for the closing on our house next week. Getting ready for Halloween. I'm feeling the need to do a holiday rant post here soon. :) Working on some guest design team projects.
Here is a page combining American crafts with Pink Paislee:
Supplies: American Crafts Delight Black Thickers, American Crafts Halloween Minimarks Rub-ons Cauldron Accents (spider), American Crafts Patterned paper Blue Skies: Here comes the Sun; plus Pink Paislee Twlight Patterned paper: Eclipse and Sunset, Pink Paislee Twilight Punch outs, and Me and my Big Ideas Transparency leaf embellishment.
Photo was from last Halloween, how cutie is he? He really has the vampire thing down. :) Happy Thursday, until tomorrow.

Better late than never. . .

I would never stand you up, but I am indeed very late. What a day. Have you ever woken up in the morning with the fierce determination to get absolutely everything off your to-do list? That's what I did. Probably because I felt really good this morning and not sick for the first time in 2 months and I over did it. I mean really overdid it. By 2:30pm I was yawning and falling asleep. So J and I took a 20 min nap. It helped, but this evening I am just dragging. I accomplished a lot, but I have more to do. This week is all about getting things done. I was excited to see my guest design team goodies show up, can't wait for one of you to win this! And as promised:
Supplies: American Crafts Black and White Cardstock; American Crafts Junior Patterned paper: Geronimo; American Crafts Letterman Black Thickers; American Crafts Junior Foil Embellishments, plus a craft knife.

Happy Monday to you. Fino a domani (is italian for Until tomorrow). I miss my grandparents tonight. :(

Just being sneaky. . .

There's so much teasing going on here on this blog, you'd think this was a bar on Friday night. . .

How about a real page tomorrow? It's a date. Happy weekend. Until then.

TGIF

And what is better than a beautiful kit and a giveaway? Go to the Cocoa Daisy blog for a chance to win some new cosmo cricket and a better look at the contents of this kit. I have to say, I absolutely love this kit. I have so many ideas and I just can't seem to scrap fast enough. I do have some layouts to share, but it's been raining here non stop for 3 days now. I'm afraid to get my layouts wet, so I'm trying to be patient and wait. It's so cold, winter has come early. But we had a really mild summer, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Back to scrapping with a hat on and gloves. Brrrr.

I've already made my mini album that was included in the kit. I LOVE how it turned out, definitely a project that I will cherish and display every Fall. Happy Friday to you! Until tomorrow.

I think we are going to eat lunch and go to the pumpkin patch this afternoon. It's just overcast enough that I think it will be fun for photos. Here are a few Cocoa Daisy Nov sneaks for you:

Happy Wednesday! Until tomorrow. (See I can blog two days in row!)

Re-emerging

I feel like I have lost the past two months to illness, and I can't get them back. I can't believe it is the middle of October. I am doing a lot better. I still have a little nonproductive cough, but at least I don't sound like a 3 pk a day smoker, (which is what I sounded like with pneumonia). I've lost 10 lbs, which for me isn't a good thing. I'm desperately looking for belts I've packed away, and I dread having to buy new pants. I hate shopping for clothes. Paper, no problem. Clothes, shoes, etc, not so much. J is doing much better too. He is still on antibiotics. He is on chewable Augmentin, after an extreme protest of liquid Cefzil. He always took liquid Motrin and Tylenol fine, who knew?

We have been cleaning out the closets in preparation for our move. We gave a lot of clothes and toys to charity. I think I've finally completed the last of the paperwork for our house yesterday (I hope). Changing lenders has been a nightmare, there's no other way to put it. There is big money in real estate and people's feelings get hurt when you change lenders and take away their commission. But I saved thousands by going with Wells Fargo, and I'm the one who had to fill out mountains of paperwork, so I'm not sorry. As they say, it's business. If you want friends get a dog. :)
I've been busy scrapping with the Cocoa Daisy Nov kit. You know, you just can't ever judge or pre-judge a kit by it's cover. I was worried when I saw the color palate, but I've made some layouts (and a project) that I really love. So, you just never can tell. Sometimes a change of color is just what I need to snap me out of a rut I guess. My American crafts Halloween project will be up 10/28 I think on their blog. I'm working on lots, but not much to share at the moment. I love this age, everyday J gives me ample scrap material. I just can't seem to scrap fast enough I guess.
I recognize I've been a lousy blogger these past two months, but something has to give when you are that sick. I'm hopeful that it will get better, especially now that things seem to be rolling along with the house. Happy Tuesday to you! Until tomorrow. I'll post my Cocoa daisy sneaks then.

Remembering Iraq

This day 4 years ago, dh and his men were seriously injured when an IED was detonated while their vehicle drove by. My dh and his gunner K spent time in the San Antonio Burn Unit, while M (his driver) was killed instantly.
Memorial at Fort Campbell KY. The rose is from his wife.
I will never forget that day. But I'm learning that time heals a lot, an awful lot. I'd like to sit down today and mourn properly, but I'm sure my toddler will want to go outside to the playground. Later, when I have a quiet moment I'll need to be filling out more mortgage paperwork (it never ends!), so that we can move to a good school district for my little boy. And when I think of how my life has changed for the better since I became a mom, and how everything I do is for that adorable little chubby cheeked cutie, inevitably I will have to admit that the reason I was able to partake in that miracle is because my husband survived the tragic events of that day. Had that IED been a little more to the center of the vehicle, my life would be completely different. I know this. I'm grateful, everyday, but especially today. Thank you God for his life. A sad day, Until tomorrow.

How many Mondays are there this week?

I apologize for not updating yesterday. It's been busy and stressful these last few days. J and I started getting sick again over the weekend. I'm being treated for pneumonia and J has an ear and sinus infection. So sorting all that out has taken some time. My mom was here over the weekend to help, which was a huge blessing.

In the past few weeks, the interest rates have dropped, a quarter point. That's how you find out what your mortgage company is made of. And we found out ours sucked. So yesterday we changed lenders. Which means more paperwork. Argh. The only thing between the illness and the paperwork/emails that I've had time for is my project for the American Crafts blog, which will debut later this month. I'm very excited about it though, it's a housewarming present for myself. :) I'm so tired, but I've got paperwork to do and prescriptions to pick up. Wish me luck. Have patience with me my friends, I believe this is the low point. It's all going to get better from here, I just know it. :) Happy Tuesday, until tomorrow.

Friday Drive-by

Working on lots of things this month. Love Halloween. We are having some work done to the outside of the house, so I have decided that J and I will go to Petsmart (he loves to look at the fishes.) That's why this is a drive by, my Cocoa Daisy layouts for October with the Fashion week kit and the In stitches add-on:
I have read where people said they had trouble with the JB rub-on butterfly, but I didn't have any trouble at all. It went on just right.
The border of rhinestones is from the Prima alphas. I love that they included that!
I just wanted this to feel like fall, and harvest, etc.
I just wanted a page of all three of us together.
More detailed shots in the gallery. Happy Friday everyone who stops by! Until tomorrow.
