S(no)w Motivation

I don't feel much like blogging today. I feel like I can't get through my to-do list and I'm frustrated. The sun goes down and it's just so cold that I just don't feel like doing much. It always amazes me, at the end of summer I have the same re-occuring fantasy that someday dh and I will live in New England, in an old farm house and we enjoy the fall there. Except, I'm pretty sure after Halloween that the whole day dream would go sour, as I really, really despise the cold. I saw some snow flurries yesterday while I worked on this layout. Appropriate I thought.
Supplies: Cosmo Cricket Oh Joy Patterened paper: Frosty (front and back) and Reindeer Games; Cosmo Cricket Buck Naked Ornament Chipboard Snowflake; plus White Bazzil Cardstock, Creative Imaginations Rub-on, Making Memories Cream paint, Colorbox Blue ink, and Ranger Bridal Embossing powder.

Instructions: Cut Frosty patterned paper into a square (front) , and then a 4 x 8.5 stripe (back). Print journaling on white cardstock, adhere photo and mat with Reindeer Games patterned paper. For the snowflake: paint first with cream paint. Then stamp with blue ink, leaving the edges with a little cream paint showing (distressed looking). While the ink is still wet, coat with embossing powder and shake to coat evenly. Let dry and adhere. Apply Rub-on.

I thought it was hard finding embellishments for little boys, but it's really difficult for a guy. I didn't want my snowflake to be really, really glittery so the technique I found above makes it look a bit more muted, more flocked looking, less girly. I hope.
I should put J in an outfit and take some Christmas card photos, but I'm not sure I feel like fighting with the light in the house, and it's too cold to take him outside without a jacket. This time of year is really tough for photos. Are you struggling too? With light or motivation?  Happy Wednesday all who stop by!

Wonderful layout!

Yeah, if you don't like snow, you would definitely not like New England in the winter.

I live in the Northeast and I'm currently staring at 4 inches out my window as I type.

Ugh.

great lo, and I totally agree with you on the cold weather. I used to love it, now I actually mourn the end of summer. Although I LOE the holiday season!!!!

yep, the motivation thief has been here and took off with all of mine. and the fact that it gets dark at like 4 o'clock doesn't help :P

I love the layout. Unlike you, I enjoy the colder weather, but we aren't getting it here right now, which is unusual. And New England does sound so romantic to me. I think I can see your dad in J - a family resemblence! I hope it gets warmer for you soon!

I don't think that LO is girly at all. It's a great masculine design.

And I agree with you about the cold. Hate it. I've often daydreamed about being all Martha-ish and living the seasons in New England. The thought of snow backs me off too. I'm fine right where I am in California! (if i ever get the insane urge to see snow in winter, i don't have to go very far, but it stays the heck away from me!)

Happy Wednesday to you!!

Yes, I am struggling. Defininitely due to light. I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. Ugh! You did such an awesome job on your layout. Love the technique you did on the snowflake. Perfect!

oh, i am right there with you about the to-do list. i feel like i'm managing it and not crossing anything off (i actually mentioned that on MY blog today. funny.)

hmmm...asheville, nc is perfect. gorgeous fall color, a bit of cold and snow in winter but not so much that you long for it to be over. gorgeous spring, pretty average summer. can you tell that's my dream? :)

What a nice page of your dad. I am with you on snow and cold..we had another 70 degree day here, with lots of sunshine, but doesn't look like that will last. Time to cozy in tomorrow. I do remember struggling to get the Christmas photos...always difficult. Good luck, but I bet you won't need it!

I enjoy cold. Enjoy snow. HATE the darkness though! It's pitch black by the time I get home. Totally stinks. I wish 'fall' lasted longer. Anywho... cute cute LO!
