Out with the old. . .

I normally don't post if I don't have a layout or something to share, but today I'm just cleaning up my space. Purging some old product. I wish that had not hoarded so much stuff in the past, I wish I would have blissfully used it up. Oh well. It's so hard to part with though, being a mom has made me so sentimental about getting rid of anything. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.

Whose that girl?

All for the love of paper. Let me just start there.

I am so exhausted, I don't even recognize myself in the mirror this morning. While I am having a blast with my new friends at Studio Calico, I think they might be a bad influence on me. I'm doing things I don't normally do. I'm drinking (caffeinated soda), gambling (trying to score an add-on), staying up late (way past midnight), cursing (typing with a sprained wrist, not good), spending money. I think I need to be detox-ed, rehab with a twelve step program. The first step is to put down the Thickers and admit you have a problem. :)

While in the mist of my caffeine and sugar buzz, I made this:
(Studio Calico May Kit with Pink Paislee, Basic Grey, and Cherry Art Rub-ons)

It was either that or start running up and down the steps. All jacked up on soda and cookies and Motrin, I was feeling no pain. Now, there is some, but it is much improved from yesterday. Thank you for your comments and concern, I appreciate it.

In case you were curious, I got the Quilting Bee add-on to the June kit. All for the love of paper right?

I sprained my wrist while out walking the baby in the stroller and the dog (the dog was pulling). I am unable to type or click very well. I have taken some motrin, and am trying to rest it. It is wrapped in an ACE bandage, which is he;ping with the swelling. I'll try again tomorrow.

Just quick Friday

I made this card for my friend Ali. She is going through a tough time right now and could use some prayers if you are inclined. She is the only scrapper I have ever met in real life, and she has been such a good friend to me since I moved here. We have been emailing back and forth and I know she is on vacation this weekend, so it is a good time to post and she won't see it. (Ali, if you are reading this and you see your card, you are a punk and you need to act surprised when you open it chick. :P )

I have been really into sequins as the center of my primas, I love the sparkle (what girl doesn't?) Some Sassafrass Lass from the studio calico kit. Sorry about the pic, I'm feeling too lazy to walk downstairs and scan. And I'm not supposed to be making a mess in here, my parents are coming!

Hope you have a great weekend. Do something fun!

PS Hope you feel better sunni-j. Nicole your package is in route.

Bad Sushi (and freebies)

So, I finally figured out why my kiddo is acting strangely. We ate some veggie sushi Tuesday for lunch and it took about 24 hours for me to get the cramping and sick stomach. He had it within about 12 hours. We have eaten sushi before, but I guess it's probably not the best idea no matter how much he likes it.

I got an email Tuesday telling me my blog was going to be featured in Magazine newsletter the week of June 2. After that I couldn't think of anything to blog about, so I just didn't. That is what happened to me yesterday. I'm very honored, I just feel really self conscious now. :P

This layout is a little J. I love those pics though, some of my very favorite. I think I'm getting braver at stamping. No, not really. I still shake and hold my breath until I almost pass out. All for the love of paper right? All Studio Calico loveliness on here (pink paislee, scenic route, etc).

Just when you were getting used to the softer side of me. :)
Go to this link by midnight tonight to win a $25 gift certificate to the Memorable Seasons store. Even if you don't win, you can still get 25% off everything (whole order everything by this Sat.) And Jill has the latest and greatest too-Prima, KraiserCraft, etc. Had to share those awesome freebies/deals with you all. I want you to be able to afford to fill up with gas, you know?

It's going to be a gorgeous day here, I can tell. My parents are coming for the weekend, so lots of fun. Have a great weekend everyone!

That's Half-a-tank-o-phobia.
I have it, don't you love my self diagnosis?
It's when your gas tank is half full and you start to panic. Should I fill up now? Wait a week? Will gas be any cheaper? Maybe it will get worse? Do I really need to go anywhere? Maybe I should wait until it's 3/4ths and decide then? It will probably be worse, I should just fill up now. At this gas station or the one across town?
Halfatankophobia. It's my medical contribution to society.
I think it could be treated with alternative fuel options or a margarita.

This is a card I made with Scribble Scrabble Felicity:

And this is a layout with some pink paislee and studio calico goodies:

Have a good one!

Happiness is. . .(RAK announced)

*These two.

*A pug puppy warming my lap.

*Apple cider (hot or cold)

*Passing a hard test

*Good friends

*Finishing a scrapbook page

*Being open to the creative possibilities

*Scrapbooking supplies

And without further ado (or maybe a little more ado). Last time I did a RAK I had a number in my head, once we reached that number that was the winner. This time I was much more scientific about the whole thing, J and I did a drawing. See that huge bruise on his head? Poor guy tried to get off the sofa face first into the coffee table. I debated about whether to take him to the ER, the bump was huge!! But I put lots of ice on it and watched him like a hawk and now it just a little bruise.
A little more ado:

So his movements get quick and jerky, the photos of him grabbing the drawing were so blurry you can't even see what he is doing. But he grabs the tab and throws it on the floor, this is that picture.

And the winner is: the 13th person to comment (number 2 denotes an entry in the drawing twice for adding me to the blog sidebar)

Danielle, absolutely LOVE that layout that was in Memory Makers...look at that babe!! (and i am linking you up to my blog, but need your last name, lol!!)

there aren't any stores around here who sell Scribble Scrabble, so the first time i played with any was from the Studio Calico April kit...would love to see more!!!

May 16, 2008 1:18 PM

I think it is very ironic someone with the blog titled "Brains. . .seriously" would win the RAK for passing the test. I guess I'm easily amused. Congratulations, please pea mail me your info so I can send this out this week (friday at the very latest).

I did go to every single person's blog, even though with the head trauma I ran out of time to comment on every one. About half of the participants in the RAK added me to their blogs, and I was added to some of the most beautiful and interesting blogs I've seen! I saw amazing projects, and I had the best time reading about you. I always go to your blog if you comment on mine and I will leave a comment for you in return.

And I have lots of Scribble Scrabble, so please stay tuned. I love to see what you can do with it!

SS RAK (changed my mind again)

Oh I'm forever grateful and thankful that I passed the physician assistant re-certification exam!! I got this email this morning that said, "you have test results available." Well, every time I log in to the website I get a big red x over the box were it says Completed Re-certification. So, all I have is this email that says you have results. That didn't sound like the resoundingly positive news I'd been hoping for. So I just started praying, and bargaining with God, and hoping. My first clue was that when I logged in the red x had turned into a green check. I started to cry. That test was humbling, 300 of the hardest medical questions I've ever seen. I'm so grateful I passed. Amazingly, I passed in the 90% percentile. Some incredibly lucky guesses, that's all I have to say.

So, in honor of this wonderful news, I still want to do a RAK. I'm so sorry it can't be open to internationals at this time, I just can't afford the shipping. I have to put gas in my car, I hope you understand. Leave me a comment and tell me why you love Scribble Scrabble and I will draw one comment to win the Scribble Scrabble Felicity paper line. And if you add me as a link to your sidebar, I'll enter you twice in the drawing. (Just so we are clear, that's a bribe.) So post here what you love about SS and whether or not I'm on your blog. I'll announce the winner Monday. I can't wait to hear from you!

You get two for one today, one layout for today and one for tomorrow. The second one Milestones was seen in Memory Makers Magazine for May.
Happy day!

So tired

I had entirely too much fun at the big Studio Calico sneak peek night. I stayed up until midnight waiting for a peek at the new kit. We were entertained by Stephanie Howell and the SC Design team. Kelly Purkey stopped by. If you get the chance, you should stop by her blog and check out the picture of the old man looking at her like she has lost her mind. It's pretty funny. (sidebar for link)

So today I'm tired. I was promptly awoken at 6:30am by a hungry dog and child. I stumbled out of bed and walked the dog with the baby in the stroller with my pj's still on and bed-head hair. And I so don't care what my neighbors think about that. I only got 2 hours less sleep then normal. I guess the sleep I got was not restorative or something.

Here is my LOTD. My ds says Uh oh all the time. I say it to avoid swearing when he makes messes, breaks things, etc. But he has such a cute way of saying it, I love it. Is it nap time yet?

So normally he is a happy thing. That is my nickname for him, that's why it is in quotes. However, with all the storms he isn't sleeping well. Talk about an unhappy thing! And me, well, I'm not all that happy about all the crankiness either. I hope it stops raining, we need to go outside. Being in the house all day, it does things to you. (sigh) I miss my little happy thing.

Changing my mind

It's still raining! What on earth? The grass is the greenest I've ever seen it. It looks like a Scott's lawn commercial if it wasn't for all the mushrooms. Yep, too much rain.

I've been busy, all weekend during naps/bedtime. Making some pages for the baby book. I think I made all toddler pages though, I really want to keep current in addition to getting the first year done. But I took so many pictures that there is no way I'll ever be caught up. Seriously, I accept this. I'm feeling good about what I have done, so I really want an AC album to put in all in. But I've kind of gone on a supply binge here lately, and need to pace myself.

I got my Studio Calico kit this weekend. Wow, just wow. I made 4 layouts. Talk about inspiration delivered! I'm very happy with it, and I only have 3 pieces of patterned paper, the Hamby transparency and label stickers left untouched. I used some of everything else (but I still have tons for more layouts). Yep, I'm hooked. Stick a fork in me, I'm so done for.

Well since there is absolutely no interest in the RAK at the moment, I've changed my mind. In fact, I actually have had people tell me they will not post a comment on the RAK day if I do it. Since I love you all and want to hear from you, I will not torture you. Additionally, I would really regret that I would not be able to include internationals at this time due to shipping restrictions (in the US we are in a recession). And that's no fun at all when everyone can't play and win.

So instead my gift to you will be a layout a day. I will post a layout everyday this week for your viewing pleasure, so please remember to come back and check often this week. Hope it is (always) sunny where you are.

Thursday, May 8, 2008

I've got a serious case of the blahs this week. I'm not motivated to do much, maybe it is the rainy weather. So, I'm not teasing you about the RAK, I just need the weekend to get it together. And I mean that in every way, shape and form.

I'm a little worried, I got bite by a tick. I found it yesterday when I got out of the shower. It's just one of the many perks of being a good mom and taking my ds to play outside everyday instead of letting him watch tv. It was tiny, I thought it was a mole at first. I don't see the tale tell signs of a target lesion yet, so I'm hoping it's all good. That's one of the bad things about being a medical person. I know every single thing that could go wrong. It's really not a good thing when you are trying not to worry.

Since I feel ick, I made a card today with more of the Basic Grey Boxer for Memorable Seasons (more DT work):

This one is a mother's day card I made at the NSD crop last weekend:

In the name of mother's day, I asked dh for scrapping supplies instead of flowers. They last longer and are more fun. I ordered Studio Calico's May Kit Newsstand, to see if I like it. I've never tried a kit club before, always felt like I could do a better and more cost effective job of shopping myself. However, I am finding that I just don't have the time to do that. And with no LSS, I just can't get a feel for things on the net sight unseen. So, I'm going to try this out this month and see. My kit shipped the same day I ordered and I should have it within the next 2 days, amazing customer service so far.

Thank you all for your comments on the blog overhaul. I'm getting used to it.
Have a great mother's day all you moms!

Don't freak out, it's ok!

I'm just trying something new. It will grow on you I promise. I don't know about the stark white background, it's awfully white. I'm debating about a border around the title, but I kind of like the minimalist look. I updated all the links, so they should all work. I even updated the resume. I love "cleaning" up sometimes.

Here is a layout that is part of my Memorable Seasons Design Team work:

I just love Basic Grey, I have the whole Boxer line. It's so perfect for a little boy. Speaking of which, I have a child that is obsessed with the movie and all things Cars. We have to read the books, watch a couple minutes of the movie each day, and when we aren't doing that, we are playing with our toy cars. I love it!

So, maybe to celebrate the "new" blog, next post there will be a RAK??

NSD hangover

Too much adhesive, what can I say? Here is the color/sketch challenge I posted for Memorable Seasons (it was created with my design team kit featuring We R Memory Keepers White Out):

I had a fun but exhausting weekend chasing my friend Kazan all over the Internet! She came and played at Memorable Seasons, and I played at her site Scrap 4 Life. Ever since I started my blog at the end of Jan, Kazan was one of the first people to ever post here. I know it is a big Internet, but it has always felt like to me that Kazan is the girl with the blog next door. She is the sweetest, and I consider her a friend after our escapades this weekend!

I'll be posting more of my work from this weekend throughout the week, I have so many things that I started for challenges and then abandoned in the name of family time. I learned something about myself this weekend too. I love the craziness of crops, but I like to take the ideas and digest them for a bit, and then create. It's not that I am a slow scrapper, because once I get my idea going I'm normally pretty quick. It's more I need to think about how to make the idea happen, I need the time to percolate the idea I guess.

I'm taking my long haired shaggy baby for a haircut today. I think it hurts me more than it does him. I love those locks.

Ready, set, go!

I'm in a super hurry today, but here is one of the new lines from Scribble Scrabble. It is Felicity. I know this theme has been done and is certainly not a new idea. But here is my take on the classic, because I just had to have one for J's book.
And here is a sneak peek of the sketch/color challenge I am doing for Memorable Seasons National Scrapbooking Day crop weekend. I do my challenge at 7 pm EST Friday night. It's going to be a fun weekend, filled with drawings, prizes, challenges, and of course, scrapping. I got my kit for the month from Jill, and OMG. I am in love with We R Memory Keepers White out, Wow. And my new favorite toy is Daisy D's tape runner. So cool.

I'm doing really good on my scrapping goals for the week. My goal was to create 2 layouts. I have already done 4, and the week isn't over yet! I still have 4 more days. Hope you are having a great day!

*Kazan-Friday at 2 pm EST or today at 2? I'll do it. I think I have to register for the site.
*Ali-Yep, calling you tonight around 8pm.
